lol I posted this like.. yesterday on my own account, got three notes or something. Posted it on The-Unpopular-Opinions today, got… more notes. Just an experiment. :) Now which blog would be more popular? Let’s calculate.

I’ve always thought the belief that we are somehow separate from our bodies to be somewhat dangerous, reinforcing an idea of separateness.  A lot of people view themselves as a sort of the driver of their body, in much the same way as a drive operates a car.  But, then you get caught in a trap of sorts when your body starts to get sick, wear out, and then eventually dies. Huge negative feelings about their “separate body” reinforce negative feelings about self-image and self-esteem.
Meanwhile, apply the philosophy forward, and why would anyone feel differently about the world?  It’s full of stupid, separate people, who don’t give a damn about you and fill up a hunk of rock in space in a universe that is out to kill you.
We are all of us and we are everything at once.

I think it’s just people overrating the importance of thereselfs again. Because our consciousness is everything we have (I mean not litteraly ‘having’), it’s a logical step to thing that it’s ‘us’, and what we are experiencing with it, like material things, is our property (we can see it, we can touch it). Because the consciousness is necessary for the experience, we feel like it is more important and since we consider ourselves as the most importent, we call it a soul and we believe it is us.
But I think, because our consciousness is driven by something material: the brain, it can’t be anything more. It is somehow a part of your body and therefor a part of you.
